Itinerary

Day 1Airport to Negambo

On arrival, you will be met by our English speaking guide at the Katunayaka International Airport lobby.

• Then you will proceed to the Hotel in Negambo.

• Relax before starting a long journey across the country.

Day 2Negambo to Wilpaththu

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceeds to Wilpaththu National Park”.

Located 30km west of Anuradhapura, and to the south of Wilpattu. National Park is River Modergam Aru; to the north is River Kala Oya. Wilpattu National Park has a good network of gravel roads, particularly between the water holes which are the best places to observe wildlife. A unique complex of over 50 wetlands like “everglades” is the most prominent feature of the national park jungle. Jeep Safari is the regular norm in exploring the Wilpattu National Park. While the big 4 of Sri Lankan wildlife the Leopard, Elephant, Sloth bear, Deer, endemic birds can be sighted during a safari.

• Meet the camp crew and settle down at your campsite which is located at the border at the National Park.

Day 3Wilpaththu

Day 05Habarana

Located in the cultural triangle, the fortress is on a 660-foot tall column of rock leaving modern-day engineers speechless. Along the way to the top, you will uncover the mind-blowing constructions and the irrigation network that will paint a clear picture of the luxuriousness of the palace back in the day. Stop 1: Afternoon Visit to Village Tour.

Experience Sri Lankan rural life this holiday season with the Village Tours offered by Lakpura. Spend time with the villagers and understand their lifestyles. Stop 2: Evening Safari Kaudulla / Minneriya.

Day 06Habarana to Kandy

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceeds to Dambulla “Cave Temple”.

Go on a historical expedition to explore one of the most ancient cave temples in Sri Lanka that has a history that runs back to 1st century BC and take a deeper look into the vibrancies of the Buddhist culture of the island. Located in Dambulla, golden cave temples are one of the most famous attractions and Buddhist temples that attract tourists and locals alike in hundreds every day. Nestled on a rock, the temple presents you stunning views of the surrounding landscapes as it invites you to the wind up in the peaceful ambiance of the place disconnecting from the bustling city life. With hundreds of Buddha statues and beautiful wall murals, a temple is indeed a must-visit place in Sri Lanka if you are visiting the cultural triangle.

Stop 2: visit to Tooth relic temple.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that was built in the 16th century as a place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. You will have a chance to walk through the beautifully embellished passageways and elaborately halls painted in shades of red, cream and black. Day 07Kandy to Mahiyanganaya / Kandy

Stop 1: After Breakfast visit to “indigenous Veddas of Sri Lanka” in Mahiyanganaya.

The Vedda people are the last indigenous tribe still in existence on the island of Sri Lanka. Dating back to the 6th century BC, the Veddas inhabited the forests of Sri Lanka long before the Buddhists arrived. The Vedda ‘Forest People’ are unfortunately slowly becoming extinct but there are some reservations that can be visited and where Veddas show tourists their way of life.

Day 08Kandy to Deniyaya

Stop1: After Breakfast proceed to Sinharaja Rain Forest in Deniyaya.

Optional* Visit to Royal Botanical Garden Peradeniya.

Day 09Deniyaya/Singharaja Rain Forest

Stop1: After Breakfast proceed to Sinharaja Rain Forest.

Sinharaja Rain Forest (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the last viable remnant of Sri Lanka’s tropical lowland rainforest spanning an area of 18900 acres is located within Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces of the south-west lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka. Sinharaja is bounded by rivers on three sides. On the north, Sinharaja is bounded by the Napola Dola and Koskulana Ganga. On the south and south-west are the rivers Maha Dola and Gin Ganga. On the west are the river Kalukandawa Ela and river Kudawa Ganga. To the east of Sinharaja is an ancient footpath near Beverley Tea Estate and by the Denuwa Kanda.

Day 10Deniyaya to Yala

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Yala.

Yala combines a strict nature reserve with a national park. Divided into 5 blocks, the park has a protected area of nearly 130,000 hectares of land consisting of light forests, scrubs, grasslands, tanks, and lagoons. Two blocks are currently opened to the public Situated in Sri Lanka’s south-east hugging the panoramic Indian Ocean, Yala was designated a wildlife sanctuary in 1900 and was designated a national park in 1938. Ironically, the park was initially used as a hunting ground for the elite under British rule. Yala is home to 44 varieties of mammal and 215 bird species. Among its more famous residents are the world’s biggest concentration of leopards, majestic elephants, sloth bears, sambars, jackals, spotted dear, peacocks, and crocodiles. The best time to visit Yala is between February and July when the water levels of the park are quite low, bringing animals into the open.

Day 11Yala

Stop 1: After Breakfast set off once again and enjoy morning and evening safari at the Yala National Park.

This is an ideal opportunity to observe all the animals you might have missed during the previous day, as each day is different from the other.

Day 12Yala to Hikkaduwa

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Hikkaduwa.

Day 13Hikkaduwa

  • When entering a sacred premises such as a Buddhist temple, it is vital that you are dressed appropriately or you will not be permitted to enter the venue. Please ensure your skirt/shorts are no shorter than knee length and your shoulders are covered.
  • It is important that you respect the rules and traditions that are observed in Sri Lanka during your stay.

  • Once you have chosen one of our tours, please send us an inquiry with the requested details via email or contact one of our representatives via telephone. If you would like to customize your trip, our travel experts will be more than happy to adjust the tour itinerary to your needs. Once the itinerary is finalized, the booking process will commence.
  • We require a 40% deposit in order to place a formal booking. On receipt of the deposit, our team will commence booking your hotels and vehicles. The remaining balance of 60% will be due 28 days prior to the commencement of the tour. We suggest you pay the remaining balance as soon as possible so as to avoid any last-minute changes.

Packing Essentials

  • As Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and high humidity, we suggest that you wear thin cotton clothing during your stay. However, we suggest you pack some warmer clothing if your tour includes a visit to Kandy, NuwaraEliya&Ella as these areas have a cooler climate.

Please ensure you bring the following:
• Effective mosquito repellent (Tropical Strength)
• Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
• Sanitary Napkins/ Tampons (for ladies) – as they are nearly impossible to find outside of Colombo.
• Universal power adapter
• Medications (if necessary)
