Day 2Negambo

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceeds to Muthurajawela”.

The Muthurajawela marsh is part of an integrated coastal wetland system of high biodiversity and ecological significance, which covers an area of 3,068 ha. It is located between 10-30km north of Colombo in the Gampaha District. Together with the Negombo Lagoon (3,164 ha), Muthurajawela forms an integrated coastal wetland system of high biodiversity and ecological significance. The ecosystem is listed as one of 12 priority wetlands in Sri Lanka, and in 1996, an area of some 1,777 ha in the northern section of Muthurajawela has declared a wetland sanctuary. The wetland makes a natural habitat for hundreds of varieties of endangered species as well as endemic species. Due to the ecological and biological importance of this wetland sanctuary, it was recently named a ‘ protected wetland of the world. It is considered one of the most important places in Sri Lanka in terms of flora and is a hotspot for botanists and plant enthusiasts. The Biodiversity report says 209 fauna varieties were identified in the sanctuary, with 17 endemic types and 26 nationally threatened varieties.

Day 3Negambo to Anawilundawa Wetland / Kandy

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Anawilundawa wetland.

The Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary is situated in the Puttalam district in the North-Western province of the country; between Chilaw and Puttlam – to be more specific – it is situated between the coast and the Chilaw-Puttalam railway line. The uniqueness of Anawilundawa is its immediate proximity to three vastly different ecosystems; the coast, the mangroves, and the freshwater tanks making it one of the six RAMSAR Wetlands in Sri Lanka. This unique ecological setting has made it a favorable nesting and breeding ground for hundreds of species of birds.

It is set out on 1,397 hectares of forest land and comprises of nine tanks; six giant manmade cascading tanks namely Pinkattiya, Maradansola, Anawilundawa, Mayyawa, Surawila and Vellawali, and three secondary tanks, each one connected with the other and working as one unit. These tanks store water for irrigation and cultivation and acts as a natural habitat and refuge for 150 species of waterbirds in addition to a few species of threatened Fish, Amphibians, Mammals, and Reptiles.

Day 4Kandy

Stop 1 : Visit to Sacred City of Kandy and “Temple of Tooth Relic”

Witness the cultural marvel of Sri Lanka, wandering around the cultural capital of the island- Kandy. Located in the hill country, the sacred city of Kandy offers the perfect mix of everything you could ever ask for in a holiday from cultural glamour, natural beauty, to world-famous attractions.

The city is the home to the famous temple of the tooth where Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth relic houses which is a must-visit attraction in Kandy. A tour to the temple will show you the Sri Lankan Buddhist culture and traditions at its finest. Make sure to pay a visit to the beautiful botanical garden in Peradeniya and take a walk around the Kandy Lake to get the full experience of Kandy.

Day 05Kandy

Stop 1: After Breakfast visit to Royal Botanical garden located at Peradeniya.

Take a walk through the colorful flowerbeds whilst enjoying the natural fragrances and the sun’s mellow rays. Behold the lush rose bushes, large collections of orchids and other rare plants whilst enjoying some peace and quiet. Further, the vibrant landscaped arches, walkways and mammoth trees will leave you in awe! You will enjoy your time at The Royal Botanical gardens as it offers a rare opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of the city.

After Breakfast proceed to Sinharaja Rain Forest.

Sinharaja Rain Forest (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the last viable remnant of Sri Lanka’s tropical lowland rainforest spanning an area of 18900 acres is located within Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces of the south-west lowland wet zone of Sri Lanka. Sinharaja is bounded by rivers on three sides. On the north, Sinharaja is bounded by the Napola Dola and Koskulana Ganga. On the south and south-west are the rivers Maha Dola and Gin Ganga. On the west are the river Kalukandawa Ela and river Kudawa Ganga. To the east of Sinharaja is an ancient footpath near Beverley Tea Estate and by the Denuwa Kanda.

Day 10Deniyaya to Hikkadwa

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Hikkaduwa.

  • When entering a sacred premises such as a Buddhist temple, it is vital that you are dressed appropriately or you will not be permitted to enter the venue. Please ensure your skirt/shorts are no shorter than knee length and your shoulders are covered.

  • Once you have chosen one of our tours, please send us an inquiry with the requested details via email or contact one of our representatives via telephone. If you would like to customize your trip, our travel experts will be more than happy to adjust the tour itinerary to your needs. Once the itinerary is finalized, the booking process will commence.
  • We require a 40% deposit in order to place a formal booking. On receipt of the deposit, our team will commence booking your hotels and vehicles. The remaining balance of 60% will be due 28 days prior to the commencement of the tour. We suggest you pay the remaining balance as soon as possible so as to avoid any last-minute changes.

Packing Essentials

  • As Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and high humidity, we suggest that you wear thin cotton clothing during your stay. However, we suggest you pack some warmer clothing if your tour includes a visit to Kandy, NuwaraEliya&Ella as these areas have a cooler climate.

Please ensure you bring the following:
• Effective mosquito repellent (Tropical Strength)
• Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
• Sanitary Napkins/ Tampons (for ladies) – as they are nearly impossible to find outside of Colombo.
