Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Mihinthalaya Rock Temple.

It’s believed that Mahinda thero who brought Buddhism to Sri Lanka from India met the King of the island at the time at the rock of Mihintale. Today you too can climb this rock and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the surrounding after you explore the Mihintale temple.

Day 3Anuradhapura

SStop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Anuradhapura ancient city.

Discover the wondrous historical grandeur of the first capital of Sri Lanka with a visit to the sacred city of Anuradhapura. Showcasing the marvel of the nation in yesteryears, the city will blow your mind at every corner surprising you with ancient ruins.

The ruined city is comprised of impressive ruins of “Dagabos”(Stupa), palaces, temples and ancient buildings offering you an ample of opportunities to explore the great history of Sri Lanka. Wander around historical sites listening to unbelievable stories of kings and queens, before you leave to capture the beauty of lush paddy fields and rural farming lifestyle and man-made reservoirs of the area.

Day 4Anuradhapuraya to Jaffna

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Jaffna.

The Jaffna peninsula has an area of 380 sq miles. Jaffna was important for both Portuguese and Dutch. Jaffna Fort was completed in 1632 and it covers 55 acres in extent.

The Dutch Church inside the Fort dates to 1706. There are ruins of Portuguese Churches at Myliddi and Chankanai and a ruined Dutch Church at Atchuveli. Jaffna is full of Hindu Kovils.

Visits in Jaffna:

Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil.

This huge Hindu temple, is one of the most significant Hindu religious complexes in Sri Lanka. Its sacred deity is Murugan (Skanda), and at cacophonic puja at 5am, 10am, noon, 4.15 pm (small puja) 4.30 pm (special Puja) 5pm, and 6.45pm –offerings are made to his brass-framed image and other Hindu deities like Ganesh, in shrines surrounding the inner sanctum. It’s about 1.5 km northeast of the center. Visitors must remove their shoes, men need to remove their shirts as well.

Jaffna Fort.

Overlooking the Jaffna lagoon, sections of this vast complex (once one of the greatest Dutch fort in Asia) have been recently restored, though it remains largely in ruins. It was built in 1680 over an earlier Portuguese original, and defensive triangles were added in 1792 to produce the classic Vaubanesque star form.

Pass by the Jaffna Clock Tower.

It is the clock tower in the city of Jaffna in northern Sri Lanka. It is one of the land mark of the city. It was built to commemorate the visit of ‘Albert Edward’, Prince of Wales to Ceylon in 1875.

Jaffna Market.

The area where Jaffna market’s fruit and vegetable is sold is made up of several open- air pavilions where smiling vendors wait to show off their goods. Jaffna market proved to be rewarding as it providing a glimpse into life in one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic towns.

Pass by the Jaffna Public Library.

Jaffna Public Library is one of Jaffna’s most notable landmarks. The library was built in 1933 and burnt in 1981. During the early 1980s, it was one of the biggest libraries in Asia, containing over 97,000 books and manuscripts.

01. Optional Visit Delft Island.

Nedunateevu or Neduntivu is a small Island located in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. The Island was called as Delft Island by the Dutch colonials. The Island expands for about 50 sq. km. Flat and oval shaped Island is usually wind – swept. After reaching to Kurikadduwan, you can take a ferry to the Delft Island. You can see a group of ponies scattering in the ground or visit.

Visit a village in rural part of Jaffna and experience the life by visiting the vegetable cultivation, markets, football grounds, sports clubs and schools.

Day 6Jaffna to Trincomalee

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to visit Eastern City Trincomalee.

Koneswaram Kovil

Your visit to Trincomalee is not complete if you don’t explore the most iconic Hindu kovil of the area – Thirukoneshwaram temple.Built on swami rock overlooking the Indian ocean, the temple is a sacred place for Hindus and will unfold the essence of the Hindu culture of the area during your tour to the place. With gigantic statues of Lord Siva and rich south Indian architectural elements, the place leaves travellers in awe. The kovil dedicated to Lord Shiva is indeed one of the must-visit places in Trincomalee.

The Fort Frederick

This local fortress was initially built in 1623 by the Portuguese. Several years later it was rebuilt by Dutch settlers before being recolonized by the British in 1728. Fort Frederick is currently occupied by the Sri Lanka military. However, It is a great tourist destination that provides stunning views of other colonial buildings, historic temples and the local wildlife.

The World War II Cemetery

Located just north of Trinco town is what is arguably known as the largest British cemetery in Sri Lanka, the World War II cemetery. Despite a Japanese air raid on Trinco back in 1942 and its age, the cemetery is in pristine condition, making it a great place to see many historical World War II documents and artifacts.

Pass by the Harbour

Trincomalee Harbour is the seaport in Trincomalee Bay and is the largest natural harbor situated on the north-east cost of Sri Lanka.

Day 9Trincomalee to Polonnaruwa / Habarana

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Polonnaruwa ancient city.

Located in North central province is a historical city, the second capital of Sri Lanka that has flourished during the period of 017 A.D. to 1235 A.D. Day 10Habarana

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Sigiriya “Lion Rock”.

Witness the wonder of lion rock fortress in Sri Lanka, immersing you in the beauty of the surrounding scenery. Located in the cultural triangle, the fortress is on a 660 feet tall column of rock leaving modern-day engineers speechless. Take the narrow stairs to the top and witness the breathtaking scenery of the summit. Minneriya is a sanctuary for elephants and spreading over 8800 hectares. During the dry season of August to September each year, herds up to 200 elephants are seen within a few square kilometers of the vast Minneriya Reservoir. This Elephant Gathering is a thrilling spectacle that would be remembered for rest of the life of all those who were fortunate enough to witness it. 24 species of mammals and over 170 species of birds have been recorded here and out Of the 25 species of reptiles recorded in the park 8 are endemic.

Day 11Habarana to Dambulla / Kandy

Day 12Kandy

Stop 1: After Breakfast visit a Sacred Tooth Relic Temple in Kandy.

The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was built in the 16th century as a place of veneration and protection for Lord Buddha’s sacred tooth. Day 13Kandy to Ella

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Ella and on the way visit to tea factory.

Sri Lanka, Tea and Tourism are words which cannot be separated. Take a tour to the cold & misty hills that take pride of an ultimate tea tour, covering lush green blankets of tea plantations. Or just step into a tea factory processing the prestigious brand of Ceylon Tea, to observe a rich tradition kept alive up to date. As you observe the hissing and swishing of machines, inhaling the heavenly scent arising from these facilities, make sure to end your day in style over a perfectly blended cup of pure Ceylon Tea.

Stop 2: Do an afternoon visite to Ramboda waterfalle.

Ramboda Falls is 109 m (358 ft) high and 11th highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is situated in Pussellawa area, on the A5 highway at Ramboda Pass. It formed by Panna Oya which is a tributary of Kothmale Oya. Altitude of the falls is 945 m (3,100 ft) above sea level.

Stop 3: In the evining visite to Nuwara eliya city.

Explore one of the most beautiful cities in Sri Lanka- Nuwara Eliya. Covered in the mist under the cool breeze is the Nuwara Eliya or Little England awaiting to take your breath away at every corner with its mind-blowing sights. As the name implies-Little England, the city welcomes you to an old English country village, offering you an unforgettable holidaying experience. Seetha Amman temple, Hakgala Botanical garden, Gregory lake,Victoria Park and Ravana falls are some of the must-visit attractions in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 14Ella

Stop 1: After Breakfast visit a Little Adam’s peak.

Mini Adams peak is the closest and easiest hike in Ella. It is 1141 m in height and from the entrance it takes up to 30-45 min for the hike. Views from the summit are incredible. 360 degrees panoramic views with clouds rolling in, is a treat to watch for any traveler.

Stop 2: Next to visit a 9 Arch Bridge.

The Nine Arch Bridge in Ella is on the Demodara loop and spans 91 meters at a height of 24m. The beautiful nine arches make it a very picturesque spot especially as it is located in a dense jungle and agricultural setting. Behind the railway, a forest is booming and below, tea leaves are being cultivated.

Day 15 Ella to Udawalawa

Stop 1: After Breakfast proceed to Udawalawa and on the way visit to Rawana waterfall.

This waterfall measures approximately 25 m (82 ft) in height and cascades from an oval-shaped concave rock outcrop. During the local wet season, the waterfall turns into what is said to resemble an Areca flower with withering petals. But this is not the case in the dry season, where the flow of water reduces dramatically. The falls form part of the Ravana Ella Wildlife Sanctuary, and is located 6 km (3.7 mi) away from the local railway station at Ella.

Stop 2: Do an afternoon visit to Elephant Transit Camp.

Enjoy the company of jolly elephants experiencing their alluring royalty and majestic aura at the Ath Athuru Sewana in Udawalawe. Being the first elephant rehabilitation centre in Sri Lanka the Elephant Transit Home provide a loving temporary home for orphaned, lost and injured elephants until they get ready to live by their own in the wilderness.
Spanning over an area of 200-acre land, the place provides a safe haven for the elephants while offering you an ample of opportunities to enjoy close company of these majestic creatures. Be there for their feeding time to see how cute the baby ones are when they are suckling milk from bottles.

Once you have chosen one of our tours, please send us an inquiry with the requested details via our site or contact one of our representatives in Sri Lanka, Australia, Norway or Oman via telephone. For the moment due to the prevailing situation, customizing your trip will be difficult and we advise you to stick with our tailor made tours for your own safety. However our travel experts will be more than happy to adjust the tour itinerary and add or remove activities of it to fulfill your needs. Once the itinerary is finalized, the booking process will commence.

We require a 65% advance deposit prior 18days of arrival, in order to place a formal booking. On receipt of the deposit, our team will commence booking your hotels and vehicles. Within 5days of your advance payment we will send your hotel confirmations, ticketing details, Driver/guide and Vehicle details along with other required details via our official reservation mail – reservation@bookingceylon.com for you to get an online visa.

Packing Essentials:

As Sri Lanka has a tropical climate and high humidity, we suggest that you wear thin cotton clothing during your stay. However, we suggest you pack some warmer clothing if your tour includes a visit to Kandy, Nuwaraeliya & Ella as these areas have a cooler climate.

Please ensure you bring the following:

  • Sunscreen (SPF 30+)
  • Sanitary Napkins/ Tampons (for ladies) – as they are nearly impossible to find outside of Colombo.
